  IN MEMORY OF
JERRY A. AVELLINO, JR.
DETECTIVE 3RD GRADE
NYC-PD
October 25, 1935 to January 10, 2014

Region No. 2 of the International Police Association with profound regrets and sadness announces the passing of Detective Jerry A. Avellino, Jr., NYC-PD (Ret.) Formerly of the Central Robbery Division and Sergeant At Arms for the Detectives Endowment Association.

Detective Avellino was a very long time member of the International Police Association, having Membership No. 405. He served as our Region President for many years and served as National President for one term. Detective Avellino also was a member of the
Knights of Columbus.

Detective Avellino was active until his very last days, as Chief of Patchogue Village Public Safety (Chief Code Enforcement Officer) for the Village of Patchogue in Suffolk County, New York. Detective Avellino began to work in Patchogue shortly after his retirement and rose through their ranks to become their Chief.

Our Condolences to his daughter, Lauren Justin and his sister, Maryanne.

WILLIAM H. COURTNEY
SERGEANT

Region No. 2 of the International Police Association with profound regrets and sadness announces the passing of Sergeant SDS William H. Courtney, NYC-PD (Ret.) formerly of the Intelligence Division.

Sgt. Bill Courtney was a long time member of the International Police Association and was instrumental in the recognition of the IPA by the New York City Police Department. Sgt. Courtney was Past President of the NYPD Anchor Club "Knights of Columbus", Past President of the American Legion Police Post 461 and Past President of the NYPD Committee of Police Societies.

Our condolences to his wife, Joan and his Son, William Courtney, Ret. 1st Grade Detective, NYPD Intelligence Division.

 
 
  IN MEMORY OF
RUDOLPH A. DEUTSCH
“RUDY”
SPECIAL AGENT
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE
1924-2012

Region No. 2 of the International Police Association, with profound regrets and sadness announces the passing of Special Agent Rudy Deutsch (Ret.), U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Special Agent Rudy Deutsch was a long time member of the International Police Association. Rudy was originally a member of Region No. 2 New York City and in 1973, upon the founding of Region No. 10 New Jersey, he transferred to the new region, which covered his residence in Nutley, New Jersey.

Our condolences to his wife, Doris Meredith Deutsch, who is also very active with the International Police Association. We also remember the late Ilsa Deutsch, Rudy’s first wife, who was a great assistant to Rudy, when he held office as Treasurer, both on the Regional and National levels.
 

 
 

 

IN MEMEORY OF
BLAISE J. SCIAME (BENNY)
3/19/25 - 2/23/13
Blaise J. Sciame (Benny)

Benny passed away at the age of 88 after a three month health battle. He served in the Navy in World War 2 on an escort vessel to an aircraft carrier. He subsequently entered the NYPD and served for 37 years as a cop in the 7th Precinct and a Detective in the Emergency Services Division. He became a legend in that division being known as the "fix iit guy". He retired March 19th, 1988 and became deeply involved with our NY 10-13, volunteering at the office four days a week. Benny was active with the Anchor Club, Columbian Assn., Holy Name, Steuben Assn., IPA, FOP, Police & Fire Widows, K. of C., American Legion and in Springfield Gardens. He is survived by 3 living siblings and 8 grandchildren. Benny has left a big void in our hearts and operation.
